I suggest you ...

Store ticket attachments in File System instead of Database

A lot of Database Bloat could be avoided if ticket attachments could be stored in the File System instead of the Database.

Not only could this avoid insane DB sizes, but it ccould improve performance.

An absolute requirement for us to consider even evaluating your product. (fortune 500 company)

This is an very important feature and very simple to implement because of the special file abstraction layer (ok, it was simple to implement in Version 2.x). Without this feature my DB would have gigabites of data .....

This is now getting more of an issue for us.
We have lots of larger attachments in our DB and the total size is growing, being a pain for backups etc.

Please make effort for this AC !

Remon - just to explain per your request for an explanation - in my case users typically want to attach semi-large files (like a 2mb PDF or image) and I'd like the option to keep the size of the DB down by storing files elsewhere. Makes for easier backup and restore of database in case I ever need to restore it. As I mention in response to Remon - I agree that it should be OPTIONAL feature setting, for those who prefer to store attachments in DB. Hope that is understandable.

Dejan - I agree that it should be an Optional setting, I just didn't think to word it that way and I can't edit the original suggestion I made.

I'm definitely all for it being an "Option" , not a default.

It's more secure to keep those files in the database, but I understand that someone may have a lot of attachments where db size can become an issue, so I don't think this is a bad idea, I just think that should be an optional feature, if implemented.

Great, thanks for having and sharing your oppinion, but why the objection, please state the issue you have with it.

I don't like this idea so if this is accepted that should be an optional feature.
